Title IX & Sexual Discrimination

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education. It reads:

"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

Title IX covers, but is not limited to,

  • Bullying, stalking, sexual harassment
  • Acts of "sexual violence"Rape
    • Sexual assault
    • Domestic violence
    • Dating/relationship violence
    • Sexual exploitation
    • Sexual intimidation

While it is often thought of as a law that applies to athletics programs, Title IX is much broader than athletics and applies to all programs, services, and activities at Randolph Community College. While compliance with the law is everyone's responsibility at Randolph Community College, listed below are the staff members who have primary responsibility for Title IX compliance.

If you believe that you have been or are being subjected to any of the above misconduct, please contact a Title IX coordinator or a trusted faculty or staff member, who will notify the Title IX Coordinator. To help with the investigation, completion of the Confidential Title IX Discrimination Form is encouraged.
